Lake Placid proudly claims to have more clowns per capita than any other town in Florida. The School, founded by Toby, aka Keith Stokes, is largely responsible. Stokes, a clown for more than 30 years, founded the school in 1993 to carry on his work of “clown medicine” at nearby hospitals after he suffered a heart attack. Since then, more than 500 clowns have graduated from Toby’s.

Long range planning includes the only Clown College in America which will be at the corner of DeVane Circle and Interlake Blvd. When completed, it will house a large auditorium complete with stage and lighting for student training, and an expanded gift shop.
